THE DRONE

The drone is the classic low sound that the didgeridoo makes… wurrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

In order to accomplish this, all you have to do is blow into the tube… but consider the following:

RELAX

Be confident and unafraid of your didgeridoo, it won’t bite until later.

Press your lips against the mouthpiece (the beeswax) such that all the air you blow goes into the didge (no gaps between lips and mouthpiece – a perfect seal)

What makes the drone is your lips vibrating LOOSELY and FREELY (remember blowing bubbles in your milk?)

The motto you should go by is "LOOSE AND JUICY".

You’ll be spitting a little bit as well but don’t worry. This is socially acceptable while didging.

You’ll know once you get the drone because it FEELS right…

If it doesn’t last too long DON’T BE DISCOURAGED, fortunately didging increases your lung capacity and within an hour you’ll notice your breathing will be clearer and stronger.

If you can’t get the drone:

Don’t worry – everyone gets it eventually.

Try adjusting the position of your lips on your mouthpiece – playing from the side is easier than playing straight on.

Spin the didge to adjust the mouthpiece.

Relax your lips and experiment with different lip tensions.

Once you start blowing, don't stop if sound isn't made - keep blowing, and adjust the tension in your lips.

Once you get the drone, play around with it. See how long you can drone for…
