Didgeridoo originates from the Aboriginals of Arnhem land, in Northern Australia. it is the first wind instrument of humanity, and is possibly over 40 000 years old.
Traditionally, didgeridoos are made from eucalyptus tree branches that have been naturally hollowed out by termites (white ants). Today, didges are made all over the world from every material that can be hollowed out and blown into (bamboo, hard woods, soft woods, pvc tubes, metal pipes) Aboriginals believe that the didgeridoo was handed down to them from the dreamtime... to them, the dreamtime is the seed of all creation, it is everything and it is everywhere all at once.
The didgeridoo is used to ACCESS the DREAMTIME The didgeridoo was used by the aboriginals in many facets of life:
Aboriginal people lived for over 40 000 years in Australia without impacting their environment. Much can be learned from their culture in order to make our own ways wiser and more sustainable.
